Detailed itinerary of 9 Days Kenya and Tanzania Safari
Day 1: Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be picked up by your safari driver guide, he will give you a short briefing about what to expect on this safari and then depart Nairobi for Lake Nakuru National Park – a birder’s haven and a home for black and white rhinos.
Arrive in the park in time for lunch at your lodge after checking in, in the afternoon you will go for a game drive and during this experience, expect to see abundant wildlife including rhinos, lions, leopards, hyenas, rhinos, Rothschild giraffes and an array of antelopes such as impalas, gazelles, waterbucks and dik-diks among others. You will also visit Lake Nakuru for amazing views of flamingoes, these amazing birds are attracted to the lake by the abundant supply of green algae in the soda-rich waters in the lake. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Lake Nakuru – Maasai Mara National Park
After breakfast, you depart from Lake Nakuru National Park to Maasai Mara National Reserve with a drive through the Great Rift Valley floor and western escarpments formed centuries ago due to the natural shifting of the earth’s tectonic plates. You will arrive at the reserve in time for lunch, in the afternoon you will go for a game-viewing experience driving through the rolling hills and the open plains of the reserve. During the experience, you will spot a variety of wildlife including lions, leopards, cheetahs, wildebeests, elands, and gazelles among others. In the evening, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3&4: Masai Mara – Game drives
On this day you will have full day game drive in the plains of Maasai Mara National Reserve exploring more of the reserve’s scenery, during this experience you will catch a glimpse of the Big Five animals that is lions, leopards, elephants, cape buffaloes, and rhinos, and other animals such as giraffes, zebras, hippos, baboons, wildebeests, warthogs, gazelles, crocodiles and numerous bird species.
Maasai Mara National Reserve hosts one of the world’s most spectacular dramas that is The Great annual wildebeest migration happening between July to October, in this annual movement more than one million wildebeests and hundreds of thousands of zebras and gazelles migrate northward from the Serengeti to Maasai Mara national reserve. During the journey, these animals encounter dangers and hazards from predators – crossing the Mara River which is infested with Nile Crocodiles.
In the afternoon you can do an optional visit to the Maasai Village where you will engage with the community members and learn local dances and culture of the Maasai Community. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Transfer to Serengeti using the Isebania border
After breakfast at your hotel, check out of your lodge and embark on a journey to Serengeti National Park with border crossing at Isebania Border. After completing all the needed formalities with the border authorities, embark on your journey to Serengeti with an en-route lunch. With an en-route game drive, you will head to your lodge for check-in, dinner, and overnight stay.

Day 6&7: Full day in Serengeti National Park
Wake up for early breakfast then head to the park together with your packed lunch for a full-day game drive in the plains of Serengeti, on this game drive you will have a chance to enjoy the unequaled natural beauty of Serengeti and the high population of wildlife species composed of animals like wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, pride of lions, cheetahs, elephants, zebras, rhinos, cape buffaloes and many more. Your lunch will be set in the wilderness of Serengeti National Park and will be treated to delicious meals and the scenic natural views of the park then go for another game drive. In the evening you will return to your lodge, have dinner, and stay overnight.

Day 8: Transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Have early breakfast, meet your safari guide, and head to Serengeti for the last morning game drive, later depart for the Ngorongoro Conservation area with an en-route game drive. Ngorongoro Conservation Area is one of the 8 wonders of the world due to hosting the largest intact volcanic caldera in the world in the names of Ngorongoro crater said to have been formed million years ago due to volcanic eruption.
On your arrival, you will check into your lodge for lunch then descend to the crater floor for a game drive on which you will enjoy watching many animals such as lions, buffaloes, leopards, rhinos, wildebeests, zebras, Jackals, hyenas, Thomson and grants gazelles and many birds such as storks, herons, secretary birds and many more. Return to your lodge, have dinner, and stay overnight.

Day 9: Crater Game Drive & Departure
After breakfast, descend into the floor for the last game drive of your safari lasting for 5 hours with a picnic lunch, the crater floor is one of the most densely crowded African wildlife areas in the world hosting an estimated 30,000 animals including some of the last remaining black rhinos in Tanzania. Apart from rhinos other animals you will watch on the game drive include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, leopards, and many more. After the game drive and lunch, you will head on a drive back to Arusha for a drop-off either at your lodge or at the airport.
