Detailed itinerary of 6 Days Rwanda and Tanzania Safari 

Day 1: Arusha to Serengeti National Park 

To start your safari, our representative will pick you up from your hotel in Arusha after breakfast or at Kilimanjaro International Airport on arrival. He will brief you about the safari and embark on a journey to Serengeti National Park. It is a journey of 4 hours and along the way you will have a stop at the Ngorongoro View Point for views of the Ngorongoro Crater from above and pass by the Olduvai Gorge were the first remains of the earliest humans were discovered by the Leakey Family.

Once you arrive in the Serengeti, you will head to your lodge with en-route game drive. Enjoy lunch and refreshments then head to the park for an afternoon game drive in the Seronera Valley, lookout for wildlife like elephants, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests and several antelope among others.

Day 2: Full day Game drive at the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater

Wake up early for breakfast and head to the park for a full day game drive in Seronera Region before continuing to Ngorongoro Crater.

The Seronera River Valley is known for hosting a large collection of hyenas and big cats such as lions and leopards, other animals to lookout for include bushbucks, dik-dik, wildebeests, elands, gazelles and several bird species such as secretary birds, ostriches, guinea fowl, hornbills and so much more.

Enjoy lunch at the hippo pool which is home to about 200 individuals, then continue exploring the Serengeti Plains. Later drive to Ngorongoro Crater, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater Tour

After a delicious breakfast, you will descend into the Ngorongoro Crater – referred to as the “Eden of Africa” – the largest unbroken caldera in the world is a great wildlife destination with unparalleled wildlife concentration.

During the game drive you will explore the different regions of the crater floor and incredible sightings of lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, rhinos, giraffes, gazelles, elands, hartebeests and wildebeests among others.

Day 4: Fly to Kigali and transfer to Volcanoes National Park  

After breakfast, check out of the lodge and drive to Arusha City heading to Kigali International Airport for your flight to Kigali International Airport in Rwanda’s Kigali City. On arrival you will be welcomed by our guide and transfer to Volcanoes National Park which is a drive of approximately 3 hours, arrive in the late afternoon, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking – Iby’iwacu Cultural Village

Wake up early for breakfast and head to the park headquarters in Kinigi for briefing at 07:30 am. The ranger guides will brief you about the gorilla trekking experience and the right way to behave while in the presence of the gorillas.

In groups of 8 people, you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek then head into misty forests looking for mountain gorillas. The trek takes approximately 2 to 4 hours or more depending on movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night. On locating these primates, you will spend one hour in their presence watching them play, feed and groom each other.

Later trek back to the starting point, meet your drive guide and return to your lodge for lunch, have a short rest in the afternoon, go for a visit to the Ib’Iwacu Cultural Village for an encounter with the local people, here you will be entertained by local dances and drama. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Golden Monkey Trekking – Transfer to Kigali for departure 

Enjoy an early breakfast and head to the park headquarters in Kinigi for briefing, you will join other visitors at the park headquarters for briefing about golden monkey trekking. Head into the misty forests looking for golden monkeys found in the bamboo forests, you will spend one hour in their presence as you watch them play, feed and groom each other.

After this amazing experience, you will head to the lodge for lunch, check out and journey back to Kigali where you will be dropped off at the airport for your flight back home.
