Detailed itinerary of 7 Days Rwanda Safari
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali Rwanda
On arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our guide and drive you to your hotel in Kigali City for dinner and slumber.

Day 2: Kigali City Tour
Following breakfast, have a city tour visiting the Kigali Memorial Genocide Centre which well exhibits Rwanda’s history of genocide through video shows and photographs among others. The exhibition shows a section referred to as wasted lives which refers to the genocide plus holocausts in Southwestern Africa, Bosnia, Armenia, and Cambodia.
After lunch, drive to Volcanoes National Park – Home to Mountain Gorillas.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking
Gorilla Trekking is usually the highlight of all African safaris. Volcanoes National Park is the best place to trek these uncommon yet fascinating mountain gorillas in Africa, the park is found on Rwanda’s border with DR Congo, and Uganda stretching along the Virunga Volcanoes. Virunga is a chain of Volcanoes with Mount Karisimbi being the highest volcano standing over 4500 meters.
On this day of tracking, you will wake up early and head to the park’s headquarters in Kinigi for briefing, be grouped into 8 people, and head into the forest looking for a gorilla family assigned to you. The trek takes approximately 2-8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night, you are allowed to spend only one hour in their presence taking pictures and observing them groom each other, picking fruits among others. Return to the lodge for lunch and spend the rest of the day at relaxation or go for a cultural experience in the Ib’iwacu Village.

Day 4: Golden Monkey trekking
Following breakfast, drive to the park again to trek the endangered golden monkeys. You will have a briefing about the right way to behave while in the presence of the golden monkeys. You will enjoy watching them play from one tree to another among others and take amazing pictures.
Return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon you will go for a visit to the Ib’Iwacu Village where you will see the locals brewing local beer from yellow bananas. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 5: Transfer to Lake Kivu for another Adventure
After breakfast drive to Lake Kivu for a boat ride around the Virgin Islands like the Napoleaon’s Hat and there you can ascend to the peak of the hat to view thousands of Angola bats in the blue skies. Following lunch, continue to Butare the intellectual center of Rwanda for a visit to the National University and the Institute of Scientific Research as well as the National Museum. Continue to Nyungwe Forest National Park arriving in the afternoon, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe Forest
Wake up early for breakfast and head to the park headquarters for a briefing about chimpanzee trekking, you will be taken through rules and regulations to follow while in the presence of the chimpanzees. Head into the forest in search of chimpanzees, the trek takes approximately 2-6 hours depending on the movement of the chimpanzees and where they spent their previous night.
The trek through the forest gives you a chance to see other primates including black and white colobus monkeys among other primates. You are allowed to spend only 1 hour with the chimpanzees watching them play on tree branches, feed, and groom each other.
Return to the lodge for lunch and in alter go for a Nyungwe Forest Canopy for a walk.

After breakfast, you will be driven back to Kigali City where you will be dropped off at the airport to catch your flight back home.
