Masai Mara is the jewel in the crown of Kenya’s tourism, this iconic reserve is home to several wildlife species including lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, gazelles, and the Great Wildebeest Migration. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to the biggest population of mountain gorillas – half of the remaining gorilla population in the world.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and Transfer to Masai Mara

You will be meet by a representative from Focus East Africa Tours on arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve on a journey of 5 hours with a stop in Narok Town for shopping and interaction with the local people and purchasing of craft items.

On arrival in Masai Mara, you will have en-route game drive as you head to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon you will head out for your first game drive in the savannah plains of Masai Mara, lookout for wild dogs, lions, buffaloes, gazelles among others, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Full Day Game Drive in Masai Mara National Reserve

After a delicious breakfast, meet your safari guide and embark on an exploration of the savannah endless plains of Masai Mara for a morning game drive, from the comfort of your safari vehicle you will see several animals including jackals, wildebeests, cheetahs, lions, leopards, hippos, elephants, giraffes and many bird species.

Enjoy picnic lunch served at one of the picnic sites in the reserve along the Mara River. Continue exploring the reserve till evening on a game drive. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Fly to Entebbe International Airport, Connecting Flight to Bwindi

Depending on your flight schedule, you will enjoy a delicious breakfast and be transferred to the airstrip for your flight to Entebbe International Airport. Upon landing at Entebbe you will connect to your flight to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

On landing at Kisoro Airstrip or Kihihi Airstrip, you will be picked by our safari driver-guide and transfer to your lodge in Bwindi. Expect a change in the temperatures with much cold fresh breeze of the rainforests. You will spend the evening relaxing at the lodge, enjoy dinner and stay overnight.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Wake up early for breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters where you will meet other visitors for briefing about gorilla trekking and the right way to behave while in the presence of mountain gorillas.

With armed ranger guides, you will head into the forest looking for a gorilla family assigned to you in groups of 8 people. The trek takes approximately 2 to 6 hours or more. Once you locate these gentle giants, you will spend one hour of watching them play, feed and groom each other. This is the most memorable safari experience in the world and after one hour elapses, trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet your driver-guide and return to the lodge for an evening of rest, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer to back to Entebbe and departure

Enjoy an early breakfast, then transfer to Entebbe International Airport with en-route lunch in Mbarara. Your driver-guide will drop you off at the airport for your flight back home or to your next destination.

Alternatively, there is a domestic flight from Bwindi’s Kisoro or Kihihi Airstrip to Entebbe International Airport.
