5 Days Rwanda Primates Safari : 5 Days Rwanda Safari will offer you an opportunity to take part in some of the top activities while on a Rwanda Safari. The highlight of the tour is gorilla trekking at the Volcanoes national park Rwanda. Apart from the gorillas, you will also go for chimpanzee trekking and a canopy walk in Nyungwe National Park. There is also Golden monkey trekking, a cultural visit and a tour of the city of Kigali. Nyungwe and the Volcanoes national park are two of the top primate’s destinations in Rwanda. By the end of this 5 Days Rwanda safari, travellers would have not only visited Rwanda’s top destinations but also toured the city of Kigali and the Iby’iwacu Cultural Centre and Lake Kivu, which is the only fresh water lake shared with Congo. This tour starts and ends in Kigali Rwanda.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest national park
Depending on your location in Kigali, you will be met by our safari guide and embark on your journey to Nyungwe forest national park which is a 6-7 hours’ drive from Kigali with en-route early lunch and visit of the Rwanda national museum and Nyanza King’s palace. Upon arrival in Nyungwe, proceed to check-in your booked lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight stay at Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel for mid-range option, Gisakura Visitors’ Centre for a budget option/One and Only Nyungwe Hotel for luxury
Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking – Canopy walkway experience
Enjoy breakfast and go for briefing about the endangered chimpanzees before entering the forest in search of the active and playful fellows in Nyungwe forest. The Chimpanzees are much easier to spot as they jump from one tree to another, chattering and laughing. Chimpanzee tracking usually takes about 3 hours. On finding them, spend an hour while taking pictures and videos. You will then return to your accommodation for lunch.
After lunch, you will go on a walking trail that will take you to the Canopy Walk-a swing bridge 50 meters in length that is suspended from large trees. You will be able to see the amazing rainforest with a bird’s eye view, spotting wildlife moving about below you. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at lodge as above
Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes national park – Lake Kivu boat trip
After your breakfast, check-out of the lodge and transfer to Volcanoes national park with en-route boat trip on Lake Kivu and en-route lunch. Proceed to Volcanoes national park and check-in at your booked lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Muhabura for budget option/Da Vinci Gorilla lodge for mid-range option/5 Volcanoes Gorilla Lodge for luxury
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking and community tour
You will enjoy early morning breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters with your packed lunch and bottled drinking water for briefing by the park ranger guides at 7:00am. After briefing, you will start your gorilla trekking journey accompanied by the ranger guides in search of the mountain gorillas; this takes 2 to 5 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. You will spend 1 hour with these gentle giants and later return to your lodge to refresh and relax.
In afternoon, you can do an optional community tour visiting Iby’ cuwa cultural village for a Rwanda cultural experience. Dinner and overnight stay at lodge as above
Day 5: Golden Monkey tracking – Transfer back to Kigali
After early morning breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for briefing from the park warden about the endangered golden monkeys. After connect to the tracking starting point and enter the forest to search for the rare golden monkey. This activity can take about 1-5 hours and is done at closer view of the other primates in the park like the red-tailed monkeys, Vervet monkeys among other. After viewing the rare golden monkeys for an hour while taking pictures and studying their behaviours. After golden monkey tracking and your lunch, drive back to Kigali which is about 2-3 hours’ drive. You will either be dropped off at your hotel in Kigali or catch your night flight back home.
