Detailed Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Kampala city tour

  • Welcome to Uganda: Upon arrival at Entebbe international airport on day 1 of 20 days Uganda primate, wildlife and birding adventure, you will be welcomed by our company representative who will brief you about this 20 days incredible Uganda safari and you drive to the hotel for check in and lunch. After enjoying your lunch, you will enjoy an evening city tour exploring different parts of Kampala the capital city of Uganda including the shopping centers, markets, religious centers among others.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison falls national park via Ziwa Rhino sanctuary 

  • White Rhino trekking and transfer to Murchison falls: In the morning on day 2 of 20 days Uganda primate, wildlife and birding adventure, you will enjoy an early breakfast at your lodge then meet with our safari driver who will pick you from your hotel in Kampala and set off on a journey towards masindi where you will stop over at Ziwa white rhino sanctuary for rhino trekking which lasts about 2-3hours. After trekking Rhinos, you will be driven to the hotel in Masindi for late lunch and proceed with your journey to Murchison falls national park for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Game drive and boat cruise in Murchison falls national park 

  • Game drive and boat cruise: After breakfast on day 3 of 20 days Uganda primate, wildlife and birding adventure, you will be driven to the northern part of the park that thrills with the best vegetation cover which harbors several wildlife species seen while on a game drive. Amongst the wildlife seen include the big 5 game since the white rhinos are trekked the previous day.  Be sure to encounter with the Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, Giraffes, Uganda Kob, and many more wildlife that call Murchison falls national park their home. After game drive, you will return to your lodge for lunch and embark on an afternoon Nile boat cruise that sets off at Paraa at 2:00pm and takes the cruisers upstream to the base of the most powerful water fall in the whole world, Murchison falls. At the base of the waterfall, if you are interested in a hike to summit top of water falls which is always an optional activity, you will leave the boat and meet with the rangers to start a 45minutes waterfall hike.

Day 4: Delta Launch cruise and transfer to semliki wildlife reserve 

  • Delta launch cruise: After breakfast on day 4 of 20 days Uganda primate, wildlife and birding adventure, enjoy a morning cruise downstream to the Nile delta which offers the best birding grounds for an opportunity to watch the endangered rare shoebill stork. While on a delta boat cruise, look out for different wildlife species including mammals, reptiles and other aquatic species. After delta cruise, return for lunch then check out of your lodge and be driven to Semliki wildlife reserve. You may opt for a night game drive as this park is suitable for night game drives to spot the nocturnal mammals.

Day 5: Game drive, Visit Sempaya hot springs and boat cruise

  • Game drive, Visit sempaya hot springs and boat cruise: Arise from your bed as early as possible on day 5 of 20 days Uganda primate, wildlife and birding adventure then head out for an early game drive to encounter with the hunters, nocturnal wildlife and other several species of wildlife that thrill in semliki. After an early game drive, you will return to the lodge for a late breakfast then embark on a guided nature walk to visit the hot springs which are the major tourist attractions in semliki national reserve. During the walk, lookout for different primate species, mammals, and plenty of birds. Later in the afternoon, you will enjoy your late lunch and close your day with a boat cruise along Lake Albert.

Day 6: Transfer to Kibale forest national park

  • Transfer to Kibale forest national park: Arise in the morning on day 6 of 20 days Uganda primate, wildlife and birding adventure, have your breakfast served, check out and start the road drive to Kibale forest national park which is one of the best primates destinations in Uganda the pearl of Africa with 13 species of primates including chimpanzees, Olive baboons, Vervet monkeys, Red tailed monkeys, Blue Monkeys, Pottos, Bush babies, Patas monkeys, black and white Colobus monkeys, Grey-cheeked Mangabey among others.

Day 7: Chimpanzee trekking and guided nature walks

  • Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale forest national park: After an early morning breakfast on day 7 of 20 days Uganda primate, wildlife and birding adventure, pack some snacks, drinking water and anything that you need for your trek, then meet with your safari driver to be driven to Kanyanchu for a pre briefing about chimpanzee trekking and by 8:00am, set off into the forest to search for the habituated troop of chimpanzees available for trekking. This lasts about 2-5 hours and by noon you will be done. Return to the lodge for lunch, relax abit and meet the safari guides and rangers for a guided walk in Bigodi wetland sanctuary the best place for birders where several species of birds are spotted including the rare shoebill stork. Be ready to encounter other primates including those seen while on chimpanzee trekking.

Day 8: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park

  • Drive to Queen Elizabeth national park: After breakfast on day 8 of 20 days Uganda primate, wildlife and birding adventure, you have optional activities including visiting the crater lakes, visiting the caves among others before setting off for a transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park where you will spend your overnight. Like any other park, Queen Elizabeth national park is famous for harboring the rare tree-climbing lions and the Kazinga channel that has a huge concentration of Hippos and other aquatic wildlife.

Day 9: Game drive and afternoon boat cruise 

  • Morning game drive: Enjoy your breakfast as early as possible on day 9 of 20 days Uganda primate, wildlife and birding adventure then meet your safari driver to be driven to Kasenyi plains which is the most visited sector in Queen Elizabeth national park for wildlife viewing adventure due to its stunning vegetation cover that acts as a habitat for several wildlife including lions, elephants, Uganda kob, buffaloes, birds, butterflies and many more. After game drive, return to the lodge for lunch and by 2:00pm be ready for a fascinating afternoon boat cruise along kazinga channel to maximize wildlife viewing in Queen Elizabeth national park as plenty of wildlife flock the shores to quench their thirst

Day 10: Lion tracking experience in Queen Elizabeth national park

  • Lion tracking experience: Enjoy your breakfast on day 10 of 20 days Uganda primate, wildlife and birding adventure then join other travelers for a fascinating lion tracking experience which was introduced in Queen Elizabeth national park to offer an opportunity to those that intend to spend some time learning about lions closely in the park. The tracked lions are identified by the trackers put in their necks for easy allocation and it’s only conducted in Queen Elizabeth national park. After this lion tracking experience, you will return to your lodge for lunch. In evening you have an option of a guided forest walk.

Day 11: Game drive and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park

  • Game drive in Ishasha sector: After breakfast on day 11 of 20 days Uganda primate, wildlife and birding adventure, check out with a packed lunchbox to spend some time on a game drive in Ishasha sector where you will be driving amidst tree climbing lions as the sleep lazily in acacia and fig tree branches while overlooking other wildlife especially the Uganda kob. After the game drive, have your picnic lunch then exit queen Elizabeth national park and start the drive to Bwindi impenetrable national park situated far south eastern part of Uganda the pearl of Africa where you will arrive late in the evening for check in, dinner and overnight.

Day 12: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park

  • Mountain Gorilla trekking: Day 12 of 20 days Uganda primate, wildlife and birding adventure requires that you wake as early as possible, have breakfast served, pack snacks and drinking water then wear your best gorilla trekking gear and be driven for briefing about gorilla trekking before embarking on the real trek in the impenetrable forest. The entire gorilla trek in Bwindi impenetrable national park lasts about 2 -8 hours and you will return to the lodge for a relaxed evening or go for the batwa experience to listen to their previous life style when they were forest dwellers. 

Day 13: Golden monkey tracking in Mgahinga gorilla national park

  • Golden monkey tracking: After breakfast on day 13 of 20 days Uganda primate, wildlife and birding adventure, check out of the lodge as early as possible and meet your safari driver for a drive to Mgahinga gorilla national park where you will meet other tourists for a briefing by the rangers. After briefing, you will penetrate the forest in search of habituated troop of Golden monkeys. This will takes about 30minutes to 4 hours but you will spend one hour with the golden monkeys in their natural habitats. Return for lunch at your lodge and embark on an evening batwa trail within the forest where you will return to the forest with the local Batwa people as they explain all that happened and how they used to survive within the forest living harmoniously with the endangered mountain gorillas surviving through hunting and gathering tactics.

Day 14: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

  • Full day excursion at Lake Bunyonyi: After a relaxed breakfast at your lodge on day 14 of 20 days Uganda primate, wildlife, and birding adventure, checkout and be driven to Kabale direct to Lake Bunyonyi one of the deepest and freshwater lake surrounded by stunning rolling hills and terraces. Upon arrival at Lake Bunyonyi, you will check-in at your booked hotel and spend a full day exploring Lake Bunyonyi. Take a canoe to exploring different islands along Lake Bunyonyi, do birding, beach relaxation, nature walks among others. Being a Lake of several little birds, you will surely enjoy the cloud filled with plenty birds.

Day 15: Transfer to Lake Mburo national park

  • Drive to Lake Mburo national park: After breakfast on day 15 of 20 days Uganda primate, wildlife and birding adventure, checkout and by 8:00am, hit the road for a drive to Lake Mburo national park with stopover in Mbarara city where you will enjoy your relaxed lunch at Igongo cultural hotel. After lunch, spend some time exploring different attractions at Igongo cultural center including visiting the Ankole museum, bookshop, craft shop and many other attraction within mbarara. Later on, you will embark on a 1 and a half hours drive from Mbarara to Lake Mburo national park where you will be welcome by a plenty of grazing zebras and other wildlife in the smallest savanna park in Uganda. Proceed to check in your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 16: Walking safari and afternoon boat cruise in Lake Mburo national park 

  • Walking safari and afternoon boat cruise: Have your breakfast served as early as possible on day 16 of 20 days Uganda primate, wildlife and birding adventure then meet your guide for a morning walk via different trails amidst wildlife in the park while sighting several species of fauna and flora. Lake mburo national park offers the best walking safaris in Uganda and its worth a do while on a Uganda safari in the western region. After the walking safari, return to the lodge for lunch and spend your afternoon cruising on one of the 5 lakes within Lake Mburo national park.

Day 17: Game drive and Transfer to Kampala

  • Game drive and transfer to Kampala: On day 17 of 20 days Uganda primate, wildlife and birding adventure, have your breakfast and embark on a game drive adventure to watch several grazing wildlife, birds and different species of the plants. Game drives are always the best ways to encounter and view the wildlife in their natural habitats. After game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch, check out and embark on the journey to Kampala with a stopover at the Equator to take some photographs and buy some crafts if interested and proceed your journey to Kampala for an overnight.

Day 18: Visit Mabira forest and transfer to Jinja to visit source of the Nile

  • Mabira forest and Jinja source of the Nile: On day 18 of 20 days Uganda primate, wildlife and birding adventure, have breakfast, checkout and start a drive to Mabira forest situated along Kampala – Jinja highway. This mabira national forest reserve is one of the best natural forests in Uganda that is usually visited as a stopover for tourists heading to Jinja for a white water rafting and exploration of the source of River Nile. Well, while at Mabira, you have several activities to engage in including birding, Zip lining, guide forest walk and Mangabey trekking. But due to limited time, you will do just a few. After exploring mabira forest, proceed your journey to Jinja for late Lunch and proceed to grab an evening boat cruise along Nile River to spot the exact source of the Nile River as confirmed by the explorer Speke.

Day 19: Jinja white water rafting and city tour

  • Jinja White water rafting and city tour: Have your breakfast early on day 19 of 20 days Uganda primate, wildlife and birding adventure and be transferred for white water rafting on Itanda water falls. This activity goes on up to about 2:00pm but there are other several activities done at the water fall including Kayaking, quad biking, bungee jumping and many other sport games to engage in. later in the evening, you will explore Jinja city, have your dinner and overnight.

Day 20: Return to Kampala for departures
