18 days Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda safari is an adventurous combined safari package offering a safari visit to Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda. On this safari expect to visit some of the best safari destinations found in these countries, in Uganda you are visiting Bwindi impenetrable national park – a home to endangered mountain gorillas, Murchison Falls national park and Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. In Kenya you are visiting Maasai Mara national reserve, in Tanzania you are visiting Serengeti national park and in Rwanda you are to visit Nyungwe Forest national park and Lake Kivu.

This safari starts in Kenya’s Nairobi City and Ends of Uganda’s Kampala City.

Detailed itinerary of 18 days Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda safari

DAY 1: arrival in Kenya

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International airport, you will be warmly welcomed by the Focus East Africa Tours representative and transfer to the hotel, if you arrive earlier you will have a short city tour visiting the Giraffe center and Nairobi national Museum. In the evening you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Maasai Mara national reserve

On the 2nd day of your 18 days Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda safari, To start off your 4 days Masai Mara safari, you will be picked from your hotel in Nairobi, he will give you a short safari briefing  and depart Nairobi for a journey of 5-6 hours to Masai Mara national reserve. Along the way you will have a stopover in Narok town where you will interact with the locals and get a chance to buy some beautiful and unique handmade pieces, you will have another stopover in the rift valley view point where you will be able to get scenic views of the rift valley escarpments.

Maasai mara game drives

Arrive in the park in time for lunch which you will have at the lodge after checking in, after your meal you will go for an afternoon game drive and as you drive in the savannah plains. You will be able to see many animals such as lions, wildebeests, cape buffaloes, gazelles, leopards, African elephants, cheetahs among others. After the sunset you will head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

 DAY 3: Full day game viewing in Masai Mara National Reserve

On the 3nd and 3rd days of the 4 days Masai Mara safari you will have 2 full days exploring the savannah plains of Masai, game drives start as early as 08:00 am in the morning after breakfast. You are to go for with your packed lunch for picnic lunch then proceed with the game viewing experience.  Full day game drive in Masai Mara national reserve offers a chance to witness animals in the reserve such as Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Leopard and Buffalo, Cheetah, Giraffe, Hippo, oribi, olive baboons, klipspringer, kirk’s dik dik, and Zebra among others. At around 06:00 pm you will head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

 DAY 4: Transfer from Serengeti

After breakfast, you will transfer to Serengeti national park a great wildlife destination, when you arrive at the Isebania border. You will clear with the authorities and then cross over to Tanzania and head to Serengeti national park, you will have lunch along the way.

Arrive in the park in the evening and with a short game drive you will head to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 5: full day game drive in Serengeti national park

On the 5th day of your 18 days Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda safari, After breakfast, you will head to the park for a full day game drive with packed lunch for picnic lunch. On this day you will enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in the plains of the Serengeti, from the comfort of your vehicle you will be able to watch many animals such as lions, leopards, gazelles, zebras, rhinos, cheetahs, elephants among others.

You will have picnic lunch and then go for an afternoon game drive, in the evening you will head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Game viewing in Serengeti National Park

Day 6: transfer to Arusha for your flight to Kigali international airport, Rwanda

After breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge and with en-route game drive you will exit the park and drive back to Arusha, you will catch your flight at Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight to Kigali International Airport. On arrival at the airport, you will warmly welcomed by our guide and transfer to your hotel in Kigali. Have dinner and stay overnight.

 Day 7: Drive to Nyungwe Forest national park

After morning breakfast , you will depart for Nyungwe Forest national park – one of the remaining tropical rainforests found in the southwest of Kigali City, along the way you will have a stopover at the Nyanza Kings Palace and the Thermographic Museum in Butare and lunch. Arrive in Nyungwe Forest national park, have dinner and stay overnight as you prepare for chimpanzee trekking the following day.

Day 8: chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk

On the 8th day of your 18 days Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda safari, You will have early breakfast and head to the park station in Gisakura for briefing about chimpanzee trekking, then drive to Cyamudongo where the trekking takes place. Together with the park rangers you will hike into the jungle of Nyungwe looking for chimpanzees on foot and when you locate them, you will spend one hour in their presence while watching them play on tree branches, groom each other and take pictures.

After lunch, you will drive to Uwinka for the Canopy walk. This amazing experience is done on a metal canopy suspended above the thick forest vegetation cover of Nyungwe forest. During the walk you will enjoy scenic views of the surrounding and spot a number of birds and primates such as black and white colobus monkeys, olive baboons among others. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: drive to Lake Kivu for exploration

After a leisurely breakfast at your lodge, you will drive to Lake Kivu – Karongi, you will have a relaxing afternoon on the lodge and later go for a sundowner boat cruise on Lake Kivu. Return to the lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 10: coffee tour on Lake Kivu

After breakfast, you will drive to Gisenyi and upon arrival you will go for a boat cruise to Nyamirundi Island where you will have a crop to cup coffee experience that is from harvesting to processing the coffee beans, then return to Gisenyi and relax at the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 11: drive to Bwindi Impenetrable national park

After a leisure breakfast, you will drive to Lake Mutanda – a spectacular crater lake overlooking the Great Virunga Mountain ranges, upon arrival, you will have lunch at the lodge and in the afternoon you will have a boat cruise on which you will explore some of the islands found in the lake. In the evening you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 12: gorilla trekking experience

On the 12th day of your 18 days Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda safari, Have early breakfast and head to the p[ark’s headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking experience, a ranger will take you through the rules and regulations to follow while in the presence of the gorillas, you will also be assigned a gorilla group to trek and then trek into the forests of Bwindi looking for the gorillas. Upon finding them, you will stay for one hour while taking pictures and witnessing their amazing behaviors which are similar to humans.

After one hour you will trek back to the lodge, have lunch and in the afternoon you will go for a community visit in the batwa community – the people of the forest, during the visit you will be entertained by local dances and drama, taste local meals, visit the medicine man among others. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 13: drive to Fort Portal

After morning breakfast, you will depart for Fort Portal – the tourist city of western Uganda, the city is a home with the largest concentration of crater lakes. When you arrive in the city you will have lunch and in the afternoon you will go for a nature walk exploring the crater lakes. Later return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 14: drive to Murchison Falls national park

After breakfast, you will transfer to Murchison Falls national park, the largest national park in Uganda and a home to 4 out of 5 big five and hosts Murchison falls – the most powerful waterfall in the world.

You will have lunch along the way and when you arrive in the park, you will check into your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 15: full day game drive

Have early breakfast and head to the park for a full day game drive to the Nile Delta which hosts the biggest concentration of wildlife attracted to the area because of the presence of water in Lake Albert and Nile Delta. During the game drive you will watch abundant wildlife such as lions, leopards, elephants, cape buffaloes, antelopes among others. You will return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon you will go for a launch cruise to the waterfall where you will enjoy watch river Nile as it squeezes through the narrow gorge. After the experience you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 16: drive to Ziwa rhino sanctuary

On the 16th day of your 18 days Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda safari, Wake up early for breakfast then head to the park for morning game drive, then exit and transfer to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. You will have lunch along the way, arrive in the evening, have lunch and stay overnight.

Day 17: rhino tracking and driving to Entebbe

After breakfast, you will head to the sanctuary for Rhino tracking experience in Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, during the experience which is done on foot, you will have an encounter with rhinos. After the experience you will have lunch and exit the sanctuary and transfer back to Kampala. Check into your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.
