Detailed itinerary of 10 Days Kenya Wildlife Safari & Beach Holiday

Day 1: Arrival in Mombasa

As you arrive at Moi International Airport, your personal guide greets you with a big smile “Karibu Kenya – Welcome to Kenya!” The guide takes you straight to your hotel, while taking in the first images of the vibrant city of Mombasa.

Day 2: Taita Hills & Lumo Conservancy

The Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary and Lumo Conservancy are two smaller parks between giants Tsavo West and Tsavo Est National Park. The 110-square kilometer sanctuary of Taita Hills belongs to the oldest mountain ranges of Africa, boasting many endemic bird species, such as the Taita thrush, and larger wildlife such as bush elephants, leopards, buffaloes, cheetahs and lions.

The Lumo Conservancy is community – run and can therefore allow for night game drives – an amazing experience.

Day 3: Tsavo West National Park + Visit the Mzima Springs

Tsavo West National Park is full of surprises, from the Big Five to various species of flora and fauna, you will meet them all when discovering the national park itself and the unique Mzima Springs.

Tsavo West National Park is home to a diverse and remarkable nature with, for example, the Mzima Springs, the Shetani Lava Flow and the Chaimu Crater. With its 9,065 square kilometers, this is one of Kenya’s largest national parks, and four of the Big Five can be seen roaming freely here. Besides, you fairly easily spot regulars like zebra, giraffes, antelopes, gerenuks and many different species of birds, all between the green hills, acacia forest, savannah, natural springs and huge lava rocks from nearby volcanos.

Mzima Springs – here you will see hippos swimming and playing around in crystal clear spring water, with crocodiles joining the fun. The springs is a series of four natural springs of crystal clear water gushing out from underneath the dry lava rock, and this two kilometer long stream is a heavenly pool for resident hippos and crocodiles.

Day 4: Amboseli National Park + Short walk and view from Observation Hill

Today you will not only marvel at Amboseli’s highlights from up close but also from above. The observation Hill spoils you with a 360 degree view which is truly unique in the world.

Amboseli National Park – discover the mesmerizing Amboseli National Park, a true wildlife haven at the foot of the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro. The national park on the border with Tanzania offers sweeping savannahs, impressive lava rocks and shimmering swamps, creating an ideal habitat for large herds of elephants, lions, variety of bird species and many more animals.

Short walk and view from Observation Hill – This hill is within the boundaries of Amboseli National Park which originated from a volcanic eruption and later cooled on the earth. The hill is just five minutes, you walk up and will be rewarded with a 365-degree view over the park.

Day 5 – 6: Tsavo East National Park

With over 13,000 square kilometers, Tsavo East National Park is huge and impressive, and, since it was founded in 1948, one of the Kenya’s oldest national park. Explore the outstretched savannah of the Yatta Plateau with its large groups of elephants and get to see an amazing amount of animals, four of the Big Five without rhinos, together with species like dik-diks, zebras, giraffes, yellow baboons, cheetahs, African wild dogs, elands, gazelles, gerenuks, hyenas, jackals, and over 500 species of birds.

Day 7: Drive from Tsavo to Diani

Drive in approximately five hours from Tsavo to Diani Beach, where a tropical paradise awaits you! Over the next few days, you can discover white sandy beaches, crystal – clear turquoise waters and vibrant coral reefs. Discover the various nearby sandbanks, go snorkeling in a marine park, and take a board to go supping or head out for a day of deep sea fishing. If you are into culture, discover the nearby city of Mombasa with its vibrant culture.

Day 8 -9: Diani Beach + Chale Island

Stretching along Kenya’s Indian Ocean coast like a ribbon of brilliant white, Diani Beach is a gorgeous settling for a beach holiday. Against the backdrop of forests echoing with the sounds of wildlife, it offers clear blue waters, white palm fringed beaches, and many watersport activities. Here you can swim along sandbanks, snorkel among colorful reefs, dive in deep sea canyons, or try out kitesurfing or supping. And for those in need of a dash of culture, the vibrant city of Mombasa is not far away!

Chale Island – this beautiful island is one of the precious jewels of Kenya, a true paradise with amazingly white beaches and a crystal blue ocean, just off the country’s south coast. This small tropical island is also well known as a sacred Kaya, one of the places of ancient worship you find along Kenya’s coast, which makes it extra special. It has rich and diverse oceanic underwater life and offers a plethora of water activities. For water lovers, go diving and beach.
