The Rwanda Uganda Land border point finally to re-open on 31st January 2022: It’s with great joy and enthusiasm to bring the most exciting news to the tourism industry and the word at large as Rwanda finally agrees to reopen the land border with Uganda. This was agreed upon after the Uganda’s first son General Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s visit to Rwanda on to meet with the President of Rwanda president Paul Kagame and came out with the news of reopening the borders that have been in closure for 3 years since February 2019. The News were confirmed by the ministry of foreign affairs for Rwanda who issued a statement that shows that at the end of the month on 31st January 2022, the Gatuna/ Katuna border point that links Rwanda to Uganda will be open. The closure of the Rwanda – Uganda border has been devastating in terms of trade between these two beautiful neighboring countries but with the news of reopening, we are hopeful that trade will resume and obviously tourism will boast as most travelers enjoy combining an adventure to two neighboring countries to explore the best of East Africa. tourists will now be able to land in Kigali Rwanda and trek Gorillas in Uganda’s Bwindi impenetrable national park or Mgahinga Gorilla national park and as well visit the other wildlife parks in Uganda the pearl of Africa and vice versa. We thank both the government of Uganda and Rwanda for restoring this bilateral tie between the pearl of Africa and the land of a thousand hills. This will ease both the movement of good and people and for us in tourism industry this brings smiles on our faces with hopes of welcoming lots of tourists to both countries due to ease of movement from one country to another. The reason behind this 3 years closure of the Rwanda –Uganda border point by the president of Rwanda arose as a result of accusation between the 2 countries that is Uganda and Rwanda as they accused themselves of political assassination and spying which led to the president of Rwanda to put a closure to the border between Uganda and Rwanda. However, we are now delighted and excited that the ties are somewhat resolved and there is hope that all the remaining issues will as well be resolved for the peaceful trade across the two countries in East Africa.
