Issuing of the Uganda Gorilla Permit is a responsibility of Uganda Wildlife Authority, on a daily basis only 88 gorilla permits are issued by Uganda Wildlife Authority for Bwindi impenetrable national park for 11 gorilla groups. 8 gorilla permits are issued for Mgahinga Gorilla national park for 1 gorilla group.
In Uganda, a total of 96 gorilla permits are issued out every day, the only way to participate in gorilla trekking, you are required to acquire a gorilla trekking permit.
Note: Booking for a gorilla trekking permit should be done prior to the trekking day, booking for the permit can be done months before the d-day of your tracking. This will help you ensure that you get your slot and a gorilla group to be visited, so when you are booking for a gorilla permit, you will be required to inform the booking office or your tour operator the preferred location you prefer trekking. So that they can know the availability of the gorilla trekking permit for the day of your trekking.

The price of gorilla trekking permits for 2023 are USD ($) 700, Uganda gorilla trekking permits are relatively cheap compared to Rwanda’s gorilla permits which cost USD ($) 1,500.

Booking for a Uganda Gorilla Permit for 2023
Booking for a Uganda Gorilla trekking permit is a responsibility of Uganda Wildlife Authority with head offices in Kampala, bookings can be done on an individual basis or through Focus East Africa Tours.
How to Book Uganda Gorilla Permit through Uganda Wildlife Authority
When booking for a gorilla trekking permit, you can connect the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) by sending them an email with your details and then check the dates you desire and then they will let you know about the availability of Goril.la permits on that specific date.
However, in case the permits are not available, then you can ask them about the dates where permits are available. Upon confirming the date, you will then transfer the money to UWA accounts.
Note: You are required to pay for the bank charges otherwise your gorilla trekking permit will not be confirmed.
Upon finishing the payment, you are then required to send a scanned copy of the receipt by email to the Booking office for confirmation. The process may take between 2 to 4 days before they confirm your dates and them they will send a scanned copy of your gorilla permit.
The gorilla trekking permit should show your full personal details (name, passport number, home country) the gorilla trekking date and the gorilla group to be visited.
The only thing left is you to show up on the Gorilla trekking day.
