Detailed Itinerary of 6 Days Rwanda Safari
Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National Park
After breakfast at your hotel in Kigali City, you will be met by our representative and drive to Akagera National Park, the only savannah wildlife park in Rwanda. Along the journey you will sighting of the changing landscape and the local people as they go on with their daily activities.
Arrive in the park in time for lunch which you will enjoy after check-in and enjoy a short rest. In the afternoon you will go for a game drive searching for elephants, gazelles, antelopes, buffaloes, giraffes, buffaloes, bush babies and baboons among others. Later in the day, return to your lodge where you will enjoy dinner and spend the night.

Day 2: Game Drive and Boat Ride on Lake Ihema
Wake up early for a cup of coffee thereafter set out for game drive in the early morning to see the early risers as well as other animals which you could have missed out on the game drive the day before. Among the animals you will see on a game drive in Akagera National Park include Masai giraffes, leopards, antelopes, zebras, buffaloes, African elephants and many more.
Return to the lodge to relax, have some refreshments and lunch. In the evening you will enjoy a boat cruise on Lake Ihema to see crocodiles and hippos plus various birds such as the kingfisher, the rare shoebill stork as well as the Fish eagle among others.

Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
After breakfast, you will embark on a journey to Nyungwe Forest National Park through Kigali City, on the way to the park you will visit several tourist attractions like the traditional Rwanda King’s Palace found in Nyanza as well as the cultural museum in Butare. Afterwards, drive through the hilly countryside past the tea fields scattered with tiny wooden houses up to Nyungwe. Check in at your lodge, have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking and Transfer to Kibuye
Wake up early for breakfast, head to the park headquarters for briefing about chimpanzee trekking and the right way to behave while in the presence of chimpanzees. With an armed forest ranger you will hike through the various forest trails, this amazing activity takes approximately 3 to 5 hours with one hour of being in the presence of the chimpanzees, observing their behavior, watch them play, feed and groom.
You will return to your lodge for a delicious lunch and then in the afternoon, you will drive to Kibuye Town found on the shores of Lake Kivu.

Day 5: Gisenyi and Ruhengeri
After breakfast, you will depart from Kibuye Town and drive to Ruhengeri through Gisenyi. The drive will unveil to you the beautiful countryside especially the Kayove as well as the Gisovu tea growing regions. Arrive in Ruhengeri and then dine and overnight at your hotel.

Day 6: Gorilla Trekking and Departure
Enjoy early breakfast and drive to the park headquarters in Kinigi arriving by 08:00 am for briefing as well as distribution into gorilla tracking groups. Then head out into the forest and begin tracking mountain gorillas.
With your armed ranger guide, you will traverse the hilly terrain of Volcanoes National Park looking for mountain gorillas, the trek takes approximately 30 minutes to 5 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night. Once you locate the gorillas, you are allowed to spend only one hour in their presence observing them play, feed and groom.
After one hour, you will drive back to your lodge for some refreshments and a delicious lunch, then return to Kigali, you will be dropped off either at the hotel or at Kigali International Airport for your flight back.
