DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Pick up from Kigali and transfer to Volcanoes national park 

Transfer to Volcanoes national park: On day 1 of your safari, our company representative in Kigali Rwanda will pick you from your hotel in case you spent an overnight in Kigali or direct from Kigali international airport upon landing, brief you about your safari adventure as you head for a Kigali city tour exploring the Genocide memorial sites, craft shops, market places, malls, and any other attractions in Kigali. After enjoying a city tour, head to the hotel in Kigali for a relaxed lunch and later on start the journey to Volcanoes national park where you will arrive in the evening, drive past park headquarters to pick up gorilla trekking permit and Bisoke hiking permit and finally be transferred to your lodge where you will check in for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park

Rwanda gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park: After breakfast on the 2nd day of 4 days Rwanda gorilla trekking and mount Bisoke Hike, pack all that you require for a successful gorilla trekking adventure including snacks, drinking water, gorilla trekking gear which include water proof shoes, a cap, sun glasses, insect repellant, long sleeved attire, a rain jacket and garden gloves then meet your Rwanda safari driver to be transferred for a briefing together with the rest of trekkers. After briefing, you will be allocated a trekking group of 8 persons or less and meet the rangers to start the walk in search of the habituated gorilla family. Once you get closer to the gorillas, one hour is enough for interaction and photo taking then trek back to meet your safari driver who will return you to the lodge. There are two options in the evening one being a guided walk to visit the twin lakes of Burela and Ruhondo and another one being a cultural tour to Ibyiwacu cultural village. You may choose to make your evening more fascinating. Head to the lodge for dinner and overnight rest.

Day 3: Bisoke Volcano hike in Volcanoes national park

Mount Volcano hike in Volcanoes national park: Arise on an early breakfast on day 3 of your safari, grab your lunch box provided by your lodge, pack enough drinking water and all hiking gear then meet your safari driver to be driven to the briefing grounds where you will find other hikers. You will be informed about possible encounters during the hike, the dos and don’ts and finally start ascend amidst security of armed rangers to summit the top of Mount Bisoke. Along the hike, look out for different wildlife that thrill within volcanoes national park including primates, mammals, birds, butterflies and many more without forgetting a look at Karisoke research center which was put in place by the Late Dian fossey the primatologist who was dedicated to conserve the endangered mountain gorillas from total extinction. All the encounters will make you hike more interesting. in 4 hours, you will be at the summit, spend time viewing the neighboring countries of Uganda and DRC with unique attraction with in, watch the crater lake at the top of Mount Bisoke and finally start a 2-3 hours descent back to the starting point where your safari driver will be waiting to pick you up and be transferred back to your lodge to freshen up, enjoy your dinner and have rest.

Day 4: Transfer back to Kigali for departures

Transfer to Kigali: Enjoy your breakfast at leisure on day 4 of 4 days Rwanda gorilla trekking and mount Bisoke Hike, check out of the lodge and start your journey back to Kigali for hotel drop off or be dropped off at Kigali international airport for departures. Lunch will be enroute.

Note: you may enjoy a golden monkey trekking adventure since it’s a half day safari before returning to Kigali and in case you missed out city tour, this is the day to enjoy it before departing. Your flight will determine what to do on the last day of your safari.
