This 10 Days Best of Uganda Gorilla & Wildlife Safari takes on an impressive Uganda Safari Journey to Murchison Falls National Park for game viewing and boat safari, Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to track the rhinos, Kibale Forest National Park for chimpanzee tracking, Queen Elizabeth National Park for game viewing and boat safari and lastly Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for a face-to-face encounter with the endangered mountain gorillas.

Detailed Itinerary of 10 Days Best of Uganda Gorilla & wildlife Safari

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our driver-guide and transferred to your hotel in Entebbe for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Rhino tracking & transfer to Murchison falls National Park 

After breakfast, you will leave for Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary along the way to Murchison Falls National Park. The Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary was established to protect the endangered rhinos and here you can track them on foot. Later continue your journey to Murchison Falls National Park with lunch in Masindi.

On arrival you will continue to your lodge for check-in, dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Guided Game drive & Nile Delta Cruise 

Today we explore Murchison Falls National Park on a morning game drive and afternoon Nile Delta Cruise.  After breakfast, you will head to the park for a morning game drive on which you will spot several animals, including lions, leopards, herds of elephants, buffaloes, Rothschild giraffes, jackson’s hartebeests, oribis, and bush antelopes, among others.

Return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon go for a boat cruise on the Nile Delta with a stop a few meters from the so-called “Devil’s Caldera,” where the Nile falls from a height of 40 meters. From this point you will be able to get an impressive sight of Murchison Falls. From the experience, head back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park & Visit the Bigodi community 

After breakfast, bid farewell to Kibale Forest National Park via Hoima. Drive through the beautiful landscape that forms the western arm of the Rift Valley in the vicinity of Lake Albert.

Enjoy lunch along the way and when you arrive in Kibale National Park, you will go for a guided walk in the Bigodi Swamp Community, where you will see several primate species, including black and white colobus monkeys, olive baboons and several bird species. Head to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Crater lakes and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Enjoy an early breakfast and head to the park headquarters for a briefing about chimpanzee trekking. A senior ranger guide will take you through rules and regulations to follow while in the presence of the chimpanzee, then head into the forest looking for chimpanzees. The trek takes approximately 2 to 4 hours or more depending on their movement and where they spent their previous night.

Spend one hour in their presence watching them play, feed and groom each other. Trek back to the starting point, meet your driver-guide and return to your lodge for lunch and later, check out and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park—arriving in the evening, check in at your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6: Boat Safari & Game Drives In Queen Elizabeth National Park

Wake up early for breakfast and go on a morning game drive, followed by an early lunch at the lodge.  On the morning game drive in Kasenyi Plains, you will see several animals, including lions, leopards, elephants, hippos, crocodiles, cape buffaloes, and several bird species.

After lunch, you will go for a boat cruise on Kazinga Channel where you will see several animals in the waters including hippos, elephants and crocodiles as well as water birds including African fin foot, Broad-billed roller, Red-Chested sunbird among others. Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 7: The Tree-Climbing Lions of Ishasha

After breakfast, drive to the Ishasha Region of Queen Elizabeth National Park—famous for its tree-climbing lions, which you will see lounging on fig trees. Other animals you will see include buffaloes, topis, Uganda kobs, baboons and leopards, among others.

Day 8: Transfer game drive in the Ishasha plains to the Impenetrable Forest

Today we embark on our last game drive through Queen Elizabeth National Park before continuing to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park—home to approximately half of the world’s endangered mountain gorillas.

Arrive in the afternoon, check in at your lodge for lunch and spend the rest of the day at rest or go for a visit to the local Batwa People – the ancient hunter-gatherer tribe. Spend the rest of the day at the lodge, have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest

Today we have an encounter with mountain gorillas in Bwindi Forest.

Have an early breakfast, meet your driver-guide and head to the park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking by a senior ranger guide, be assigned a gorilla family to trek in groups of 8 people, then head into the forest looking for mountain gorillas.

The trek takes approximately 2 to 5 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night. On locating the gorilla troop, you will spend one hour in their presence as you watch them play, feed and groom each other. Also, you can take as many photos and videos as you wish.  Trek back to the starting point, where you will be rewarded with certificates and head to your lodge for an evening of rest, dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 10: Drive to Kampala or Entebbe.

After breakfast you will check out of your lodge and drive back to Kampala with an en-route lunch in Mbarara. Your guide will drop you off at the airport to catch your flight back home or to your next destination.
