On this safari you will have an opportunity to participate in the adventurous mountain gorilla trekking experience, game viewing and boat cruise on Lake Ihema.

DETAILED ITINERARY OF 5 DAYS RWANDA GORILLA TREK & WILDLIFE TOUR
Day 1: Arrive in Kigali.
Upon arrival in Kigali at Kigali International Airport in Kigali City, Rwanda, you will be welcomed by our company representative together with the guide. After a short safari briefing, you will be transferred to your hotel in Kigali city, depending on the time of your arrival, you will enjoy a brief Kigali city tour visiting sites such as Kimironko Market and the Kigali Genocide memorial sites. Then transfer to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Akagera national park and Ihema Boat Cruise.
Have breakfast, meet your guide and transfer to Akagera national park a home to the big 5 and the only savannah park in Rwanda. Akagera national park is a home several wildlife species such as lions, leopards, elephants, cape buffaloes, rhinos, oribis, Topis, bushbucks, impalas, roan antelope, and cape elands among others.
Arrive in the park in time for lunch at your safari lodge and later embark on the afternoon boat cruise on the beautiful Lake Ihema, during the boat cruise you will be able to see various game species such as hippos, crocodiles and many bird species residing on the shores of the lake such as the remarkable shoebill, African Wattled plover, Giant Kingfisher, water thick-knee among others. After the sunset, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Early morning game drive and transfer to volcanoes national park.
Rise up early and head to the park for an early morning game drives which is a perfect experience to spot different animals which rise early to graze and several predators such as lions, leopards and wild African Dog looking for their early morning kill. After the game drive you will return to the lodge, fresh up , have late breakfast and then embark on a journey to Volcanoes national park – a home to the giant mountain gorillas. You will have en-route lunch along the way, arriving in Ruhengeri in the evening, then check into your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking Rwanda.
Rise up as early as 06:00am for breakfast and then head to the park for a thrilling and adventurous gorilla trekking experience, you will report to the park for briefing and allocation of the gorilla family to trek. In the briefing, head guides will read you the rules and regulations to follow during this experience and while in the presence of the giant mountain gorillas. You will also be group in to groups of 8 people and head into the cold and misty forested slopes of Volcanoes national park in search for mountain gorillas.
The trekking lasts for about 2 to 6 hours depending on the movement of the Gorillas and upon finding them, you are allowed to stay in their presence for only one hour of having close up look at these huge creatures, watching their behavior and taking pictures.
Later trek back to the park’s headquarters where you will meet your safari driver and transfer back to your lodge, if you are still strong enough to walk you can do an optional village walk. Have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 5: Return to Kigali& Departure
Enjoy breakfast at your leisure, exit the park and embark on a journey back to Kigali, if the city tour was not possible on the first day, you will have a brief city tour and then transfer to the airport for your flight back home or to your next destination.
